Supply, Upgrade and Commissioning of a PLC panel for six new silos, ACICO, Kuwait

To accommodate instrumentation and control signals at a new cement silo at the Shuaiba plant, Soulintec engineered a PLC I/O panel and modified the existing PLC program and SCADA GUIs.

The first part of the project included instrumentation, control engineering and supervising the installation. Soulintec provided the following:

  • Instrument cable design, selection, route selection and installation
  • Wiring diagram review and cable termination between the instrument and control panel
  • Loop checking all the instrument cables
  • As- built drawing implementation assistance
  • Glands and junction boxes selection

The second part was the supply of the silo’s control system, here Soulintec’s scope of work was:

  • Supply of the I/O panel with ProfiNet interface
  • Supply of the new S7 400 PLC and S7 300 PLC with ProfiNet communication for the existing mills and establish communications between both PLCs and the new I/O panel
  • PLC program modifications and WinCC SCADA GUI modifications. Establish redundancy between both WinCC workstations
  • Loop testing, commissioning and startup of the system
  • Technical support including visits and remote support
